| 2025 LADY 18ers HOME AND HOME RECAP Seventy‑one enthusiastic players—44 from SunBird, 25 from Springfield, and 2 from Palo Verde—came together for a lively Step‑Aside Scramble. Despite the cloudy skies and strong winds, spirits were high and every team showed up ready for fun. The day began bright and early with a 7:00 a.m. check‑in in the SunBird Ballroom, where golfers enjoyed hot coffee and an assortment of breakfast treats before heading out to the course. After play, everyone returned to the Ballroom for a delicious lunch provided by the Horizon Room, featuring chicken salad, fresh rolls, and a tempting dessert table that drew plenty of smiles. Players also supported a 50/50 raffle, helping us raise nearly $350 for the American Cancer Society—an effort we are deeply grateful for. This special tournament rotates every three years, and next year our friends at Springfield will host. We’re already looking forward to it. And we can’t close without celebrating a spectacular highlight: our very own Suzanne Popelka scored a Hole‑in‑One on Hole #11! Suzanne was playing with Lisa Onyx, Jane Walker and Paulette Ehlers (Springfield?). She used her 8 iron to go 89 yards INTO THE WIND! –Thanks to Karen DeLong for these details! |
